I love art, and when people hear that they ask me what kind of art I like. The thing is that I like all kinds of art painting, building, sketching I found that art is something that I can use to express myself. I made this peace because of a book that I like to read that's called Warriors, and it's about cats. About a year ago they made a graphic novel, and anytime something exiting was about to happen a bird would show up. So what if it was like that in real life, could you imagen?

When visiting Washington, DC, I took a photo similar to this perspective. I found it to be an interesting line of sight, framed by trees and ending at the Capitol Building. When coming up with a piece for the contest, I thought of the photo I took. Using it as a reference, I sketched out the drawing before finishing with watercolors and colored pencil. Seeing the city and all the details the make it up is inspiring, as it reminds the viewer that there is more to a city than just the landmarks.

This picture was inspired by the endlessness of space. It amazes me how much we’ve explored, yet there is still so much we don’t understand or know about it.

I enjoy exaggerating muscles into almost inhuman proportions, so this piece was very enjoyable. My favorite medium is ink with watercolors.

Hello! My name is Arberleah but most people call me Leah. I live in a small town and have been homeschooled my whole life, so I have always had lots of time to explore my passions. What I am most passionate about is my art. Recently I have been getting back into reading and exploring fictional worlds once again, and now images come to me so vividly as i read, I just have to get them out of my head and onto canvas. I like Anime

I am in high school and have been learning about lots of amazing artists and painting with Ms. Jenn Augustin for about three years. I am influenced by so many artists and really like to express myself in my art. This is called "Sunset" and I tried to emulate the bold, bright colors I sometimes see, and taking it further. I like making brush strokes that have movement and flex, and I like to blend colors to create something more.

I love to role play. So I'm very excited to get to enter in a drawing of one of my favorite characters. Gene Doe is one of my favorite original characters. He is 5'9, has dyed purple hair (though it is now literally unable to change due to a magical incident), and always has his guard up. This drawing portrays him in a moment of awareness and vulnerability. It's nice to see him get to be embarrassed.

This piece was inspired by Greek mythology, specifically the story of Icarus. This piece is representing the last moments of Icarus’s plummet to the Icarian sea which the sea was named after. This piece makes was a slight depression vibe because of the final moments of reflection of Icarus’s life, and I wonder if he thought he had a good life and if he did okay and what awaits him next, but our eyes will simply never live to tell the tale.

I am the one, the only; ARAN!!! (Ahem, sorry) As seasons have passed, I've become more entranced every year by the beauty of fall all around the world. I found that trees in their autumnal state are so naturally well captured in art, so that is what I did. To be specific, this is a portrayal of a path through the Green Mountains National Park. I've destroyed 3 brushes, missed some homework, and have a sore back, so as long as your life may go on happily ever after, I say this: VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!

My piece is a surprising friendship between a yellow Labrador and a Mallard duck along a pond with a beautiful mountain setting. I love this piece because it reminds me of my favorite animals along with my favorite setting, mountains. My love of the outdoors and animals is also what inspired this piece.

This piece is a reflection of how life can seem so good and easy and put together but from the inside it’s hard and complicated. I feel like the soy sauce is like sudden tears in a way. Like how maybe it’s unexpected but happens anyway when you are overflowing with emotions. This piece was a painting my class did and I was really proud of it!

I learned about this mysterious plane on Youtube so I clicked on it to see what it was. I wanted to figure out why this plane crashed and I decided to make a drawing of it. What happened and the drawing made me feel sad because there were a lot of people in it. I chose purple, pink, and yellow so it felt like a dream as if it was still flying.

I have always wanted to be an artist, and animals and designs like the one in my piece have been a major inspiration for me. I've had a passion for art from a young age, and I want to prove to myself how far I've come. I used the impasto technique to really bring the subject off the canvas. I wanted to create a sense of movement with the strokes of the paint fanning out from the wings and adding texture to the scales. I wanted this to feel like you could pluck it straight out of the canvas. I made shape of the flowers and the background more suggestive, blurry; trying to create a depth that pushes the moth forward.

I seriously don’t know why I made this, I was lying in bed and I had a sudden thought about drawing a snake, then I just built on that. Everything below the collarbone on the skeleton is based of a Google image, the rest is from my imagination, hence why the snakes look like gummy worms 🐛. Uhhhh I don’t know what to put…I spent around maybe 6-8 hours on it, during class periods, and I was really scared to color the snakes because it was my first time using shading and blending with color. I was inspired to draw this piece because I love the stars and I have always wanted to go on a camping trip. I think the stars are like little tiny campfires because they're always sparkly and they always sparkle up the night... even when the moon isn't out! I drew this originally as background practice

I came up with this piece on my own. I saw him in my head and I knew how I wanted Kai to look. I created him for an online role playing class. I drew him with one of his antlers broken because when I first introduced Kai he had run into a wall out of confusion. I call this piece “Liquid Prayers” because words cannot always relay how you feel, and sometimes you just got to let the tears fall and let people see that you feel. When I look at kai in this piece I feel like giving him a big hug.

I painted this picture after taking watercolor classes from my teach Caitlin on Outschool. I painted over it and then added some salt which dried on the painting.
