Preparing Your Class Catalog for Back-to-School

About this event

Thanks to everyone who joined us for Preparing Your Class Catalog for Back-to-School!

Steve Rogers and Matt Riley walked through why we’re leaning into academics this Back-to-School season and what’s changed on both the authoring and parent sides. Highlights: a new curriculum section in the authoring tool with a full curriculum field you now control (instead of the system guessing), grade level as a signal of content level rather than age, support for established third-party curriculums, and a new “all subjects” option for pod-style classes. On the parent side, families searching the four core academic subjects will see a full curriculum filter, updated class cards that surface grade, subject, credentials, small class sizes, and ESA eligibility. Coming next: improved assignment and feedback tools for live courses.

Plenty of good questions came up around semesters vs. full year, world languages, electives, self-paced academics, and what counts as full curriculum. Worth watching that section if you’re deciding how to tag your own classes.

Two things to check if you’re getting your catalog ready: confirm the full curriculum and grade level fields on your academic classes (we pre-filled them based on your existing setup, so it’s mostly a sign-off), and stop by the public funding hub to see which ESA programs you qualify for.
